   Food Manufacturing (via Vertical Farming)

●       Advantages include:

a.      Fresher products for local residents and students. Instead of food being shipped in from neighboring states, customers can drive from anywhere in the DMV to our facility. Local products we make could include: sauces, frozen foods, baked goods and box mix dry ingredients (e.g. biscuits, waffle mix ), along with herbs and veggies from the rooftop garden.

b.     For the food items listed above, we’re a co-packing facility for product distribution on a small scale.

c.      Access to food manufacturing for Incubator participants and local Ward 7 & 8 residents – the ACAC will manufacture and produce food items from anyone with a product to market that rents space in the incubator 

d.     Reduced transportation costs getting local goods from Southeast D.C. instead of shipping in from outside states. This benefits local Ward 7 & 8 residents.

e.      Support for local agriculture. By growing locally, we reduce environmental impact and improve the Anacostia area’s access to food.
